Museums

Two museums worth a visit in Northampton are the Central Museum and Art Gallery and the Abington Museum. The former reflects Northampton's proud standing as Britain's boot capital by housing a collection of boots and shoes, widely recognised as the finest in the world. Abington Museum is housed in a 15th century manor house, which was once the home of Shakespeare's granddaughter, Elizabeth Bernard, who is buried in the nearby church. Admissions to both museums are free.
