Today, the Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Mary Smith officially opened Blackpool Southshore Travelodge. The 124-room hotel represents a £6.2 million investment in the town, creating 25 new jobs. Situated on Seasiders Way, Blackpool, FY1 6JH the new Travelodge will offer rooms from 29 per night.

Blackpool Southshore Travelodge is the company's first hotel in the North West to be built with the company's new room design. Created in a contemporary style, incorporating a red, white and blue colour scheme, the new room is furnished with dark, rich tone furnishings and mood setting coloured lighting. Also included in the room is a digital flat screen TV and Wi-Fi. The room's ensuite facilities have also been updated to reflect the new style.

Stuart Henshall, Blackpool Travelodge's Hotel Manager said: "There is a desperate need for lowcost accommodation in Blackpool and our new hotel will help to meet this demand. We sell rooms from as little as £29 per night and our location is perfect whether meeting on business or on a leisure trip with friends."

The Mayor of Blackpool Councillor Mary Smith said: "I would like to wish Blackpool Southshore Travelodge every success for the future on behalf of Blackpool City Council. This new hotel will fill a real local need for budget accommodation and I am thrilled that it has created so many new jobs."

Research shows that local businesses benefit from new Travelodge's being built in their area. The hotel chain's average customer spends around £254 in local bars, shops and restaurants while on a week's break.
