Today, Travelodge celebrated the official opening of its first hotel in Clacton on Sea. The £1.9m hotel was formally opened by Chairman of Tendring District Council, Councillor Nick Turner. The opening of the new 57-room hotel has created 13 jobs in the community.
Andrew Crick, Clacton on Sea Travelodges Hotel Manager, said:
"I am extremely proud to be given the opportunity to run Clactons first Travelodge. Given the pressures on everyones finances, there is a real demand for low cost accommodation in the area, and my team and I are looking forward to being able to provide it."
Travelodge recruits all of its entry level staff for new hotels in partnership with the Job Centre Plus scheme - a programme that focuses on getting the local longterm unemployed back in to work.

A study of Travelodges customer spend reveals that each overnight stayer spends £36 in the local town on food, drink and entertainment. This spend will boost Essex tourism revenues by £591,000 per annum.
