Essex hotels
Essex rests neatly on the South East coast. Home to the Discovery Coast, the famous beaches are its main draw. Although the lure of sea, sun and sand may bring people in, the landscape is just half the story. We may not be able to guarantee sun, but we'll guarantee a good time, thanks to zoos, amusement parks and other family activities. Stay in one of our hotels in Essex and you're close to all this. Packing list: bucket, spade, other family members (even your teenagers), an open mind. Tick, tick, tick and one final glorious tick.
Book hotels in Essex
Book a hotel in Essex, and you're in no better place for a day out with the kids. Start your day by heading to Colchester Zoo. See them feed the lions and hop on the Lost Madagascar Train, a walk-through Lemur exhibit. When you're done, head to our Colchester Feering Hotel which is only 6.1 miles away. If you've still got energy, wander through Castle Park and check the events calendar for live music. Travelling as a couple? Visit rustic market town Saffron Walden. If you need a bit of peace, how about top English Heritage site Audley End House and Gardens. It's only 12 miles from our Stansted Bishops Stortford Hotel. On your way home, dine at Cricketers, a restaurant owned by Jamie Oliver's parents. See where he learnt his kitchen tricks.
Things to do in Essex
Essex is home to England's longest shoreline, so try to see at least some of it. Our suggestion: Start at Leigh Cliffs East and enjoy the coastal walk to Southend-on-Sea. You'll pass through Southend Cliff Gardens, which is a perfect location for a picnic before finishing at Southend Pier. For a well-deserved rest, our Southend-on-Sea Hotel is only half a mile from the beachfront. For something more high-octane, go to Adventure Island. Voted as one of the top things to do in Essex, this is theme park fun with a sea-front location. Plus, our Southend-on-Sea Hotel is only a half-mile away.
