The outside fa�ade looks even more impressive at night, so make an effort to see it all lit up. If you're visiting Scotland for its incredible scenery, Kilmarnock doesn't disappoint. Make your way up to the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. It's a good hour's drive, 21.3 miles north of our Kilmarnock Hotel, but it's totally worth it. The Semple Trail is a 2-3 hour walk, which takes you by ruins and lochs. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather. On the way back, stop off at Struther Farm House for a traditional Scottish meal.

If you've got time for a trip to Glasgow, it's just over 35 miles from our Ayr Hotel. Visit the classically Victorian Kelingrove Park. The Kelingrove Art Gallery is close, and the most popular free attraction in Scotland, with good reason. Even if you're not interested in the art, the building itself is a spectacle. If you've only got time to visit one place, make it Culzean Castle. A 25-minute drive from our Ayr Hotel will take you to an extravagant clifftop location, the former home of the Marquess of Ailsa.
