Andrea Warner, from Rushden (Northamptonshire) has been awarded a Guinness World Records title for making a king size bed in 74 seconds – A World First!

Guinness World Records™ have confirmed that Andrea Warner, from Rushden, has set a brand new world record for the Fastest bed making by an individual (king sized bed) in a time of 74 seconds.
Guinness World Records, the universally recognised authority on record-breaking achievement, has confirmed Andrea is the first record holder for this specific record category, and had to complete the bed making in under three minutes to secure the record.

Andrea, aged 42, who is the hotel manager at Wellingborough Rushden Travelodge, completed her challenge at the company’s London Vauxhall hotel. The record bed making was witnessed by Kit Malthouse, the Deputy Mayor of London for Business & Enterprise and 300 people. The attempt was adjudicated by two official timekeepers from the Amateur Football Alliance and two independent witnesses.

For the Guinness World Records attempt, Andrea dressed a new king-size Travelodge Dreamer Bed. This included placing a king size flat sheet on the mattress, inserting four pillows into cases, inserting a king size duvet into a cover, closing with buttons, making the bed and adding a bed runner.

Guinness World Records Spokesperson said: “Seventy four seconds to make a king sized bed is an incredible achievement and it therefore gives us great pleasure to welcome Andrea into the record-breaking family.”

Andrea Warner, Hotel Manager at Wellingborough Rushden Travelodge hotel said: “I cannot believe I have made history by being the first person in the world to dress a king size in the record time of 74 seconds. Not in my wildest dreams did I think that one day I would be a record breaker. I have made over 10,000 beds since I joined Travelodge. However in the run up to taking this challenge I was practising throughout the day and evenings. I even popped round to my family and friends houses to make their beds, just so that I could practice.”

The Travelodge Dreamer bed is a bespoke luxury king size bed which is predominately used by luxury hotels worldwide. The bed is produced by royal warrant holders Sleepeeze Ltd who are renowned internationally for their experience and craftsmanship in producing the most luxurious beds that money can buy.

As part of Travelodge’s £57 million refurbishment programme all 500 Travelodge hotels across the UK will have a Travelodge Dreamer bed by September this year.

Listed below are Andrea’s five top tips for making a bed in record time:

1. Make sure you have everything ready that you need to make the bed before starting to make the bed
2. Place the bedding items that you will need in the order that you are going to use them – close to the bed
3. Use a fitted sheet to cut time out folding and tucking away excess sheet material
4. Place the duvet in the duvet cover – Take both corner of the duvet and insert hem inside the duvet cover. Once both corners are set inside the duvet, take them and shake until the cover comes down. Place the duvet on the bed. Then, insert the two last corners of the duvet into the cover and set onto the bed.
5. The tip to a nice pillow – is to fold it in two, insert it in the pillow case and tuck the opened end to close it.
