Today, Nottingham city centre Travelodge made history as part of Travelodge's UK record of opening eight new hotels throughout the country in one day. Santa officially opened the hotel, with some help from Nottingham Lord Mayor, Sherwood the Bear (Nottingham Forest football team mascot) and Holy Cross Catholic Primary School.
Travelodge has invested £4 million in converting the redundant BT building at 63 Maid Marion Way into a 114-bedroom hotel. The new city centre hotel has created 40 new jobs within the area and is the fourth Travelodge hotel within Nottingham.
As part of the hotel opening, the children were set a class project of drawing their fantasy bedroom. Santa and the Nottingham Lord Mayor selected the winning picture, which was drawn by Kiaya Piggott-Gardner. The picture will be hung in the hotel reception area. Kiaya wins a family weekend stay at a Travelodge hotel and all participating children were awarded a goodie bag.
Room rates at Nottingham Central Travelodge will start from £26 per night. You only pay for the room, not the number of guests staying. There is a choice of rooms, which includes family, double and disabled. Each room offers a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king-size bed, colour TV which offers pay on demand movies, telephone and Internet services and free tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel also has a Bar Café, which offers a range of meals and refreshments throughout the day and evening. (Breakfast, evening meals and snacks 24 hours a day and a bar service until 1.00am)

just created jobs within the community, it has also bridged the gap for budget accommodation that was needed in the city centre. It will certainly help bring more business and leisure visitors to the city. I am extremely pleased to see the company has catered for the disabled and the facilities I have viewed are outstanding."
The other Travelodge hotels to open today include: Manchester Airport, London City Airport, Aberdeen Airport, Bury, Norwich City Centre, St Austell and Pembroke Dock which results in a total investment of £26 million, 678 new rooms and a creation of 220 jobs.

As well as creating a UK record, Travelodge has also launched a new pricing strategy, which will deliver £20 million price cuts to customers in 2006. This will include hundred thousand £10 rooms, 500,000 £26 rooms and price cuts on thousands of standard room rates. All four Nottingham Travelodge hotels (City Centre, Riverside, Nottingham EM Airport and Trowell) will benefit from this new pricing strategy, which will help drive more business into the region.
