OUT WITH THE CAVA, IN WITH THE CRISTAL

LONDON CITY ROAD TRAVELODGE GETS POSH FOR ITS BELEAGUERED CUSTOMERS

Budget hotel chain Travelodge are stocking up a London hotel with crates of expensive Cristal champagne - to help stressed-out city workers drown their sorrows. Bosses have filled the City Road hotel on the edge of the capital's financial district with bottles of the £250 champers after requests from a string of beleaguered bankers.

As well as the Louis Roederer Cristal they are also laying on caviar served on bilinis with sour cream at the 392-room hotel where rates are under £30-a-night.

Travelodge chief operating officer Guy Parsons said: "City-workers are under a lot of pressure right now and obviously need pampering a bit in the current economic climate.

"In response to a large number of requests from stressed out customers, we have upgraded our low cost Cava at City Road Travelodge to Cristal champagne to help business travellers wind down at the end of their working day."
