Today, Keith Alexander, manager of "The Posh", Rodney Hicks and James Ghaichem officially opened the new Peterborough Central Travelodge, which is the first branded budget hotel to open in the city centre.

The £3.1 million hotel has 79-rooms and has created 20 new jobs within the area. It is located at New Road, Peterborough, PE1 1QF and will be the third Travelodge hotel within the city.

Joining the Posh Boss and players were Deputy Mayor, Marion Todd and pupils from Bishop Creighton Primary School. To mark the opening of Peterborough Central Travelodge, Year five were set a class project of drawing their "Dream bedroom". The Deputy Mayor selected the winning picture, which was drawn by Amy Pragnell aged 10 years.

Amy won a weekend stay at a UK Travelodge hotel of her choice for her family and her picture will be hung in the hotel reception area. All participating children were awarded a goodie bag.

Matthew Greener, Peterborough Central Travelodge's Manager, said: "We have seen tremendous growth in budget accommodation within the Peterborough area.
