TRAVELODGE TO BUILD SECOND HOTEL IN HEREFORD

Travelodge, the UK's leading budget hotel chain today announced the unconditional exchange of contracts on a new hotel development site in Hereford, which will create 15 new jobs. The 38-room hotel will be located next to the Grafton Inn in Grafton and will represent a £1.6 million investment.

The exchange comes shortly after Travelodge announced an unprecedented growth drive in the Midlands - pledging to add a further 3000 rooms (30 hotels) to the region by 2020.

The Midlands growth drive is part of the hotel chain's unparalleled national openings programme. From 2008 it aims to add on average 4,000 rooms (approx 40 hotels) every year up to 70,000 rooms (around 1000 hotels) by 2020 - targeting a 10% share of the hotel market.

Planning for Hereford South Travelodge has been approved and construction is due to start next month. The build, led by developer Barrington Inns Ltd, is expected to complete in autumn 2008.

Tony O'Brien Travelodge's Development Director said; "As part of our unprecedented growth plans we pledge to invest over £90 million in the Midlands. Hereford, with its magnificent countryside and historical buildings is drawing millions of visitors to the region. We want to give travellers every reason to visit the Midlands and stay longer - we see increasing the availability of low cost accommodation in the area as central to achieving this objective."

The new hotel will add an extra 38 low-cost family rooms to the area and best deals can be found via www.travelodge.co.uk
