Travelodge, the UK's leading budget hotel chain today announced the exchange of contracts on a new hotel development site in Cockermouth, which will create 15 new jobs. The 43-room hotel will be located near the Marvejoles Roundabout and will represent a £1.7 million investment.

Construction for the new hotel started this week and it is expected to be completed by November 2007.

Tony O'Brien Travelodge's Development Director said; "We are very excited about this new site. Our new hotel is situated in an ideal location and will undoubtedly attract high numbers of business and leisure visitors. As part of our aggressive UK growth plan we aim to open 40 hotels in 2008 and a further 40 per year until 2020. Cockermouth Travelodge will play an important role in ensuring we achieve this goal."
