TRAVELODGE LAUNCHES A COLLECTION OF LUXURY POOCH BEDS
With the world famous dog show 'Crufts' fast approaching, hotel chain Travelodge is gearing up for its influx of four legged customers by creating a range of customised pooch beds that will cater for every shape and size of canine.
Following the success of its pet bed trial, Travelodge is now introducing a king size bed and a 'Dogillow' to the collection. All beds are free to hire will be available at Travelodge hotels near to the NEC.
The king size pet bed is a mini replica of the company's luxury king size bed. At 3' 6"x 2' 6" it comes complete with mattress, pillow and duvet in Travelodge colours. The 'Dogillow' is an adaptation of the Travelodge 'Cuddillow' which has been converted into a snuggling pet pillow-bed; this will come in two sizes suitable for a large/medium and small dog. The original pet bed will also be available in more hotels. This is 2' 6" long and 2' wide and also comes complete with bedding.
Leigh McCarron, Travelodge Sleep Director said: "Our pet bed trial has been a great success with feline and canine customers across the UK. Crufts is a big occasion in the dog calendar and we want to acknowledge the importance of this event. Therefore we have extended our range of pooch beds to ensure our two and four legged customers get their beauty sleep in order to look and feel their best for the big occasion."
It is expected that around 300 dogs will stay at Travelodge hotels over the Crufts week. The most popular Birmingham hotel sites will be Yardley, Fort Dunlop and Maypole. Rooms will be available from £29 and dogs just need to pay £10 each*, per night. Rooms can be booked at www.travelodge.co.uk.
To explore the snoozing habits of British pets and investigate how doting owners respond to their beloved darlings' sleeping and travelling needs; Travelodge conducted a study amongst 2000 British pet owners which identified the following findings:
An amazing 45% of Brits allow their pets to sleep in their beds, even though 42% of pets will disturb their owners sleep pattern by waking up in the middle of the night due to restlessness. Listed below are the top five annoying habits, owners have to endure from their sleeping pets:
1. Snoring
2. Breaking wind
3. Scratching
4. Howling
5. Barking
'Letting sleeping dogs lie' is good advice for most men who are in a - 'there is three of us in this' relationship with their partner. A staggering one in five women admit their four legged companion gets more attention in bed than their partner. Fifty per cent (50%) of female pet owners also reported they give their pet a goodnight kiss every night. Excessive pet devotion can lead to jealousy within a relationship as findings reported one in ten men regularly argue with their partner about sharing their bed with an animal.
The study also found that indulging your pet does not just stop at home as 28% of Brits miss them so much that they will take them on holiday with them. Of those that don't, 65% of pet owners said they are distraught when they have to leave their pets at home whilst taking a trip.
The most popular reasons respondents gave for taking their pets on holiday included:
- My pet is a vital family member
- I cannot bear to be parted from my pet - even on holiday
- I could not entrust my pet with anyone whilst I was away enjoying my myself
- My pet works hard loving me and they deserve a holiday as well
Forty four per cent (44%) of respondents said they would take their pets away more often, if more UK hotels offered a pet bed service.
The most popular pets to take on holiday are dogs and cats although within the report some people admitted they have taken their pet horse, pony, snails, lizard, parrot and ferret on vacation with them.
After Crufts some of the pet beds will be moved to various Travelodge hotels across the UK who have regular pets staying throughout the year. Hotel sites will include: Edinburgh Central and Haymarket, Norwich and Eastbourne.
