Vice Chair of Middlesbrough Council, Cllr Ron Lowes, today formally opened the brand new Travelodge on Newport Road, Middlesbrough.

The hotel, Travelodge's 353rd, represents a £2 million investment in Middlesbrough, has created 20 jobs and offers rates in its 55 bedrooms from just £19 a night.

Unique about this hotel is that it is the first that has been opened in a partnership with the budget hotel chain Aldi. The supermarket chain is the freeholder whilst Travelodge has taken out a longterm lease on the property.

The Middlesbrough hotel is styled in the company's new room design. Created in a contemporary style, incorporating a red, white and blue colour scheme, the new room is furnished with dark, rich tone furnishings and mood setting coloured lighting. Also included in the room is a digital flat screen TV and Wi-Fi. The rooms ensuite facilities have also been updated to reflect the new style.

Debbie Husband, Northern Regional Director for Travelodge, said:

"I am delighted that we have opened our first hotel in Middlesbrough and I expect it will not be our last.

There is a desperate need for lowcost accommodation in Middlesbrough and our new hotel will help to meet this demand. We sell rooms from as little as £19 per night, which is great value whether you are staying on business or on a leisure break".
