Today, Travelodge announced it has acquired the 127-bedroom Leeds Riva Hotel on Vicar Lane and transformed it into a Travelodge hotel. This new opening supports the company's aggressive expansion programme to open 40 new hotels this year.

Leeds Vicar Lane Travelodge was officially opened by local Councillor, Elizabeth Nash and Travelodge's Director of Sleep, Wayne Munnelly.

Room rates at Leeds Vicar Lane Travelodge will start from as little as £26 per night. This is a 77% reduction on the original room rate offered by the former hotel - Leeds Riva.

Working with the hotel's owners, Riva Hotels, Travelodge has taken a 25 year lease on the building. This is the fourth Travelodge hotel to open within the Leeds area and Travelodge is the only branded budget hotel chain to have two hotels situated in Leeds city centre.

Leeds Vicar Lane Travelodge is an ideal destination for leisure and business travellers. With great public transport links and just three hundred metres from the famous department store Harvey Nichols the hotel offers a great deal to its visitors.

Ben Roberts, Development Director, Travelodge said: "Our highly competitive pricing structure and business model will enable us to make this hotel a success. We are the only UK budget hotel operator to have such an aggressive expansion programme and this move has increased the number of Leeds Travelodge rooms to 335. Leeds is a fantastic city and we are proud to be opening our fourth hotel in such a desirable location."

In line with Travelodge policy, all the rooms at Leeds Vicar Lane Travelodge (previously Leeds Riva Hotel) will have non-essential and supplementary items such as hairdryers and unnecessary bathroom toiletries removed.

Philip Bolson, Travelodge District Manager said; "Demand for budget accommodation is booming in Leeds, which is why we have invested in a second hotel in the city centre. My team and I look forward to welcoming customers to our newest Travelodge in Leeds where they will have a comfortable nights sleep for as little as £26."

Leeds Vicar Lane Travelodge will offer a choice of double and twin rooms, offering en-suite bathrooms, luxury beds, colour television and free tea and coffee making facilities.

Additionally, the new hotel will feature a Bar Cafe, providing light meals and a licensed bar. Travelodge will also continue to offer the meeting room space previously available at the Leeds Riva Hotel.
