Things to do near Derby
Derby Cathedral boasts an impressive 212ft tower, which is believed to date back to the year 1510.  It’s a fine example of Gothic architecture and is well worth a visit.  If you’re interested in theatre and drama, then head to the Derby Playhouse, which is one of the UK’s thriving performance spaces. It puts on a great range of productions all year round and there are also weekend and holiday performance workshops for kids and those interested in channelling their inner thespian.  Nearby Calke Abbey is a wonderfully atmospheric stately home set in beautiful grounds, its now faded grandeur only adding to its charm.  The home and grounds are wonderful places to spend an afternoon with nature, whether you’re after some quiet time or want to spend a day exploring with the family.
