A stadium's potential is realised

Construction on the 12,500-seater Kassam Stadium began in 1997, but it didn't open its gates until 2001. During this time, the fortunes of its team, Oxford United, took a dip and relegations ensued. Fortunately for the fans, a return to the third tier of English football eventually followed, and the ground's size and facilities are now well used.

Take a trip around historic Oxford

The stadium lies on the southern edge of the famous city of Oxford, recommended for its blend of stunning architecture, historical sites, university campuses and modern attractions. The shopping in Oxford is superb, and there are several excellent restaurants scattered throughout.

Take in some stunning scenery

The Kassam Stadium sits just a few miles away from the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With such a renowned site almost on the doorstep, it's well worth getting out and about to take in some of the walking, cycling, photography or birdwatching opportunities that the Chilterns provide.
